This Saturday, the hubby rolled over, looked at me and said, "The apple tree on the side of our house--- Its coming down today." I had mixed feelings about this because in my heart, I always hoped that we could get it to produce good fruit that I could feed the kids or (learn) to make applesauce. Alas, six years have proved me wrong and he won the battle.
We rented a chainsaw and he went to work. He lobbed off several large limbs on the sides and then together, with a crude pulley system we tackled the main branches. I am so grateful to report that the neighbor's power lines were successfully avoided.
We have a stack of branches as tall as our house waiting for a green waste bin to arrive, but we had a great time playing arborist.
