April Showers (Wedding Showers, that is)

Saturday, I co-hosted a personal bridal shower for my best friend Katie. Her finance, Scott, was generous enough to let us crash his apartment and his sister and fellow bridesmaid, Christie, co-hosted the shower with me.

In addition to her new sisters-in-law and the Bukey sisters, Katie had a great turn out of old college friends and gals from her current singles ward. We started out with a delicious bridal shower menu of spinach chicken salad, mixed fruit, cucumber/crab salad goodness, hand-dipped chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels and the ever-classy sparkling juices.

We played a few bridal shower games including one where you use the lyrics of cheesy, romantic songs to come up with the couple's wedding vows. Not only do you have to write them but then your group had to perform them as well.

After a few more games, it was time to open the goodies. I think Scott will be more than pleased with the gifts. :) He even sent a few goodies of his own for Katie including 2 pairs of boxer shorts.

With food eaten, games played and presents opened, we sent each girl home with a goodie of her own...gourmet cupcakes from Mini's in SLC.

Moment of Triumph

As maid of honor for my best friend in the whole world, I was given the distinct honor and privilege of selecting the maid of honor dresses. Bare in mind we are all endowed (sleeves), different ages (and styles) and to top it all off, the other two will be 4 and 5 months pregnant on the day of the wedding.

Top choices from the gang included dresses such as:

After much deliberation, the final section arose victorious...

In the ever popular (currently sold out) berry color. (That is a whole other story.)

Regardless, I think this one is going to be fabulous!

"Sunny" California

M: A few of my cycling clients were participating in a mountain bike event/festival this weekend in Monterey, CA. Between the races, booths and fair food, we had our share of fun. The weather left a little to be desired (chilly winds) but we really enjoyed the free swag, comped dinner and a chance to get away from our house hunting dramas for a few days.

C: Well, this is my first official post to our blog. I think this weekend is appropriate to open myself into the blogging world. I had the opportunity to go with Maura to the Sea Otter Classic in Cali. It was a very fun event besides the bone-chilling wind. We had the chance to test ride a couple of high-end Trek mountain bikes. It made me want to get back into riding.

M: By "test riding" Cole means that I got on a bike for the first time since I was about 15. Seriously, I am not sure how I work with so many cycling companies without even owning one myself. While it is true you never forget how to ride, that doesn't mean you will be ready to hit the trails. I started on one and the minute the trail went down hill I freaked! I felt like I was at the edge of a black ski run. In case you forgot how I feel about those, feel free to check out my first ever post.

C: All in all, it was a blast. Did I mention the best ribeye and lobster? If you are ever in the area and don't mind dropping a few bills, check out Tarpy's Roadhouse. The trip all around was wonderful. The weekend is about over now and life starts again. Back to the hustle and bustle of school and work, and the weekend becomes no more then a distant memory. It was a great vacation to relax just before finals.

Book Club Ladies

I think everyone got Amber's email this week about our next book. It is the Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards. As a word of warning, I have never read this book, but it has been on my list of want-to-reads for the last month or two. So...Right now we are thinking May 14th at 7pm at my house. Enjoy!
